- Manufacturer: HomeBrew Electronics
The Homebrew Electronics Power Screamer is the flagship pedal from HBE. It is tonally wide ranging and transparent and "oozes" a vintage, tube like overdrive. Based on the JRC4558D IC, The Power Screamer features adjustable gain, level and tone controls, 3-way Diode select and a footswitchable boost with a "Fat Boost" option.
The Power Screamer is an overdrive pedal capable of providing many different overdrive sounds. The Power Screamer sounds best when ran through the input of a tube amp (never run The Power Screamer thru an effects loop).
Input - Instrument in. If you are using a battery, be sure to unplug the pedal when not in use to conserve battery life.
Out - Out to amp
9VDC jack-for use with -(Negative) center, 9VDC, filtered and regulated power supply.
Gain Control - Varies the amount of overdrive.
Level Control - Varies the amount of output. Capable of driving an amp in to saturation. The pedal sounds best when ran a little above unity. Tone Control - Varies the amount of treble.
Boost - Provides approximately 10db of gain/volume boost.
On/Off - True bypass of effect. (Note: a small pop may occur when effect is switched on/off. This is normal and is a trait associated with true bypass.)
Diode Select - The Left setting will give you that classic overdrive-tight and controlled. The Center setting offers more bass, gain and volume, with some slight compression. The Right setting is very compressed with tube like sag and warm. It sounds like a small tube amp about to explode, best for single notes and soloing.
